H. World Literature Period 6

You are responsible for re-writing your one pagerish essay on the AP English Literature 1972 prompt. You MUST brainstorm and plan an essay that is markedly improved that the first draft.  Essays must not substitute Camus' biography for a response to the prompt.  Your interpretation of the text must be based on your reading of Chapter 1 and nothing else. Your interpretation of the text must not contradict the text itself.

The Stranger by Albert Camus Resources

Today, continue viewing the slides in the powerpoint on Albert Camus, his family, his schooling and his background. You should be thinking of the following: What impact does one's family background, circumstances, schooling have on them and their writing. How might it impact the themes or conflicts of their work? After viewing the slides, write a one page reflection about the highlights of Camus biography and what you think is interesting to his experience that might impact his writing.

AP English Literature Period 1: Letters to Lear

Compose two sets of letters--one to King Lear; and one to a character of your choice in which you adopt the persona of the Court Psychologist or family therapist. Using vocabulary and jargon from the assigned article, "Is Your Family Dysfunctional?"--the one hyperlinked under classroom readings and handouts, you will construct letters of counsel and advice to Lear and a character of choice.  Adopting the persona of therapist, and using the language of the article, please do the following: Tell teach character/subject what mistakes or misdeeds they have done wrong thus far in the play.  You may demonstrate that you understand who they are (character analysis) but you purpose is to illustrate their shortcomings thus far.  Excellent letters will demonstrate understanding of themes in King Lear so far, human behavior, and the reading Is Your Family Dysfunctional? And perhaps the Jeffrey Klugger Ted Talk and Article. Excellent Letters will also quote from the play, and include salutations/greetings as needed.
