H. Expository Composition

Making Text to Self connections with "A Dozen Demons" by Ellis Cose
1. Select any eight of the demons, then respond with a two or three (or more) response in which you describe and discuss your interaction, observation or experience with that particular demon. Be specific!

1. With which character do you most identify? Why? Use evidence to support your response
2. Create one Author and You or Own MY Own Question
3. Identify one Fact from the text
3. Describe any one of the characters using 2-3 adjectives.

H. Expository Composition p.6

1. Fully Finish updating and customizing your blog. Include the symbolic image, about me paragraph and the academic hyperlinks, as well as the hyperlinks to academic bloggers that you decided to follow from The Huffington Post.
2. Complete your two additional interviews. You may opt to include a few of the "Dozen Demons" especially if you "interview middle class minorities."
3. Find and make a post about an "Article of the Week" from one of the sites that you hyperlinked.

Thanksgiving Break Assignment
1. Fully finish creation of your blog. You must have the required number of hyperlinks; the picture; the "about me section"
2. Respond to the following prompt: If you could create your dream Thanksgiving dinner menu and guest list, what would you make? Whom would you invite? Create a menu of your holiday meal. More importantly create a listing of ten to twelve individuals that you would invite to your meal. They may be alive or deceased, and should include a combination of famous individuals, artists, entertainers, political leaders, academics; people who took a stand. Why would you invite them? Provide a rationale for each individual person you invited.
3. Finish your Independent Reading Novel.
4. Finally, read, The Magic of the Family Meal.

1. Continue to work on creating your blog 2. Finish your character analysis essay integrating your own quotes and evidence to support your thesis statement. 3. Please visit the following link Using Education Technology in the English Classroom  and complete the survey!

AP English Literature Period 4

Carefully Read the Dialectical Journal Scoring Rubric. Then, re-read your last entries for The Picture of Dorian Gray. Score each individual entry (Chapters 15-20) with a number, as well as the designation:  Critical Reader; Literaal Reader; etc.  Then respond: How can you strengthen your responses to your quotes?
2. Finish your essay on Theme.  Be sure to first complete the Graphic Organizer. Your essay may be typed single spaced or handwritten. Underline your thesis in red ink. Underline in pencil your evidence (allusion and or symbol or setting).
Be ready to discuss your essay; as well as to present your theme charts tot he class.

1. Re-read "A Nation Within A Nation" Complete the SOAPS from the article. (if not finished in class)
2. Then, write a response on one of the following prompts: What are the benefits and set-backs of being a nation within a nation?  or 2. How is my ethnic group also a nation within a nation? or 3. How has the nation within a nation continued to expand?
3. Complete your identity puzzle using colors, markers, or tagxedo.
4. If you have not finished your blog, continue to work on it; continue to also conduct your interviews.  You need two by Tuesday (if you did not conduct any as of yet).

AP English Literature Period 4

On Monday, November 16th we will have an Independent Work Day. On that day, I will pass back assignments and collect assignments assigned but not collected for a variety of reasons (field trips; class presentations; my absence due to training;). We will also self-correct several assignments; and I will stamp and issue credit for others.
2. By Monday, November 16th, have Chapters 15-20 of the novel read, with one journal entry per chapter.

1. You should have completed your Chapter Open Minds and completed the Study Questions on Antigone.  On Monday, we will begin writing character analysis.  We also will begin our Interim Assessment next week.

H. Expos. Composition

Complete SOAPS from Article of the Week. If SOAPS run out, use your own paper. Be sure to read Chapter 5-6 from The Fall of Rome. 2 Dialectical journals per chapter.  Remember, blogging assignment due on Thursday. First two Interviews are also due on Thursday! We will finish revising Nickel and Dimed Essay on Monday. Also bring The Fall of Rome. 

AP English Literature Period 4

1. Be sure you have completed questions 1,2,3,6, 7 and 12 from your Perrine Text page 655 completed. Also, be sure to carefully read The Picture of Dorian Gray Chapters 11-13. Read more if you can. Our goal is to be finished reading BEFORE Thanksgiving break, but by the break at the LATEST. We must read at least one more text before Winter Break! Complete two dialectical journals per chapter (you will have a total of 6 entries at least on Monday).
