Who is supposed to die, based on the opening line of the novel? Describe the victim. Why does he not have his weapons on him physically? The victim is clothed in white linen when he dies. Explain the symbolism or potential symbolism of him wearing white?  The killers are twins.  Why might this be important or symbolic, that the killers are twins who look so alike that they couldn't be told apart? Why do you think Marquez chooses not to give the town a name? How was the victim killed? Describe the significance.  If you know Spanish translate the names of the characters.
