AP English Literature Period 4

1. Continue Reading and Annotating your Throwback Novel. You must have three new journal entries by Thursday.
2. Answer questions 1-5 on the Argumentative Checklist using "Are Families Dangerous" by Barbara Ehrenreich.
3. Be prepared to write an in class essay on some aspect of your throwback novel on Wednesday!

H. English Ten Period 5

1. Be sure to read your first chunk of your literature circle novel by Wednesday evening. Also, please compose three dialectical journal entries based on your reading reactions. Write a quote at the very top of the page, then answer: What does this reveal or might it predict about the character, or the setting, or a potential conflict in the story? Then respond. Your response must be a full folded page.
2. Finish questions 1-5 from the Argument Analysis Checklist using the essay, "Are Families Dangerous?"

1. Be sure to read your non-fiction text at least 20 pages.
2. Fully complete your literature circle role sheet. Even if on your own paper.
3. Select a meaningful quote from your non-fiction text. You will create a journal entry in class tomorrow

AP English Lit. P.4

Read both of the journal entries received. How would you score them? Use a dialectical journal rubric that you find online.  Include commentary for why you scored each journal response.  There are three entries (one is on the back).
2. Be sure to have made one journal entry for your throwback. Be sure to have read at least thirty pages or a chapter and a half of your novel.
3. Complete your literature circle role sheet and be ready to discuss upon arrival to class.
4. Bring "Are Families Dangerous?" essay to class.

H. World Literature Period 6

Consider the families referenced in the article, "Are Families Dangerous?" by Barbara Ehrenreich. Why is knowledge of each family paramount to understanding the article, and to grasping Barbara's claim?
2. Take a sheet of paper and fold into four. In one quadrant write the sentence that most surprises you.  One sentence that you most AGREE or DISAGREE with; in another quadrant create two questions. In the last quadrant, please write with whom do you identify with most and why.

AP English Literature P. 4

1. Write a one page response in which you answer the following questions:
What do each of these groups have in common?
What did I learn today, and how do these references impact my understanding of the author's argument or claim?
2. Carefully read and annotate the essay, "Are Families Dangerous?" by Barbara Ehrenreich.  Be sure to underline main idea or most important sentence in each paragraph. Consider what Barbara uses as her evidence.  We already know one of her sources--allusions to past events.
3. Be sure to borrow or check out your throw-back novel.  On Thursday you will have the first 30 pages read. Journal covers will be distributed on Wednesday, as will Literature Circle Role Sheets. Actually, they are already on the blog.
4. Last day to pay for King Lear and lit. circle book, if needed is Thursday.
