H. Expository Composition

Text to Text: Be sure to complete the Text to Text Assignment in Which Characters from The Fall of Rome are matches with the demons they experience.
2. Read Chapter 9, 10 and complete two Dialectical Journal Responses per chapter. Include Chapter, page of quote and response. Be sure to identify what the quotes reveals about the character before you make any other reactions or responses.

H. English Ten Period 5

Carefully read and annotate the second part of "Civil Disobedience" Then on the back of your 4 Square sheet; do the same for the end of the text. Specifically:
In one box; select two new quotes that resonate with you; In another box create a level 2 or level 3 question; identify a statement that is unclear or that you disagree with; and identify that you feel is the main idea from this excerpt.

AP English Literature Period 4

On Monday, be sure to have the responses to questions: 2,4 and 11 that were originally assigned on Thursday. Also, be sure to review what you learned about the female characters whom Sybil is compared to.
2. Complete questions #1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 (pg 655). depending on their applicability of your poem. (A minimum of five) Poems: "Curiosity"; "Sorting Laundry" and "Lonely Hearts"
3. Finally, be sure to fully complete questions from Exploring Sibyl: 2,3,8,9. (You should have already done 1, 4 and 7). Be ready to discuss on Monday, and to begin writing!

H. English Literature Period 5

1. Be sure to review Claudette Colvert. Also, begin to select an important (historical) figure who took a stand. The figure must have taken a specific stand against something unjust. Their stance must have been uncomfortable, and they nevertheless made it.

AP English Literature Period 4

Wonderful last few minutes of class! Be sure to bring your Chromebooks, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Print out the Exploring Sibyl Assignment that was discussed, if possible! See you tomorrow! Ms. G

H. Expository Composition period 6

1. Finish Reading The Fall of Rome Chapter 7. Select one quote and do your dialectical journals.
Respond to the following questions: Are successful minorities obligated to be mentors? Should they feel obligated? Discuss, feel free to use your own experience or observation and feelings to support your claim.
2.  Derrick Harper succesfully graduates from Howard undergrad and Howard law school. (Howard is a Historically Black Institution).  Discuss his significance as a character? Why does our author have Derrick go to a minority institution and is still successful? What message is being communicated?

AP English Ltierature Period 4

1. Be sure to finish all of the questions on your Practice AP English Literature Exam from Monday!
2. Be sure to bring Dorian Gray!
