1. Today in class, we read a poem Nikki Rosa by Nikki Giovanni. Then thinking about King Lear, we started to write our own version of Nikki Rosa, from the point of view of either Edmund;Edgar; Cordelia; Goneril; or Reagan. (Some students tried King Lear or Gloucester or Kent. Please finish your draft of your modeled poem.
2. We also listened to the song, "Big Brother" by Kanye West, while reading the lyrics to the song. As we read, we specifically looked for evidence of feelings of jealousy; admiration; being underestimated and competition.
Answer the following question based on the annotations you made: What are the themes of "Big Brother" Compare and contrast the song to conflicts and characters in King Lear. Be sure to cite specific textual evidence to support your opinions, and ideas.
