1. Decide which text you will use for your Throwback Thursday. Your Throwback Thursday text should be one that you read in grades 9, 10, or 11, or 12. It should be an academically appropriate novel or play that you could use on the AP English Literature Free Response Section. You may choose from Lord of The Flies; Gatsby; The Scarlet Letter; The Piano Lesson; Chronicle of A Death Foretold; The Crucible; The Perks of Being A Wallflower; Catcher in the Rye. You will need a copy of the book on Thursday or a print out of Chapter one!
2. Imagine you are a teacher considering a grading scale for AP English Literature. What will you include? How should your students be graded? Construct a grading scale that incorporates homework, quizzes, journals, essays, practice AP exams, presentations. Consider weights? How will effort be included? Will it? How often will you have essays? Tests? Quizzes? What is the role of peer editing or even self editing and self grading and assessments? How often will you have writing assignments on the novels read, versus essays from AP Prompts?
