H. Expository Composition Period 6

As previously discussed, tomorrow you will produce an on-demand piece of writing about The Fall of Rome. The essay will be scored according to a rubric. The expectation is that you have a thesis statement and are able to support your response with evidence. The grade you receive on the in-class essay will count toward your final score.  It is NOT a credit or no credit assignment; it will be read and scored based on the quality of your writing, thesis and support.
2. You will also have the chance to participate in a student lead discussion of The Fall of Rome. This discussion will be woroth a specific number of points. All students must participate. In order to do so, please construct one Level 2 or Level 3 question and be ready to share in class tomorrow.
3. Lastly, during the second hour, we will begin viewing American Promise.
4. Finally, many of your grade reports DID NOT include scores for the first Major Essay on Hidden Intellectualism. That graded essay may lower your percentage.  Essay writing tends to be more difficult than reading and study questions. If your essay grade lowers your overall percentage, that means more essays will be assigned to augment your writing scores. The essay will not be removed.
